When betrayal comes from someone we love the pain can feel unbearable.
Betrayal is often something one cannot come back from.
How do you rebuild trust that is this far broken?
How does one begin to pick back up the pieces and rebuild a relationship once shattered so severely?
How do you settle the constant physical feeling of stress created by this betrayal?
How do you continue to work alongside someone who has shown you their cards so boldly and proven they are not worthy of your respect?
How do you show up and pretend the actions done are acceptable?
How do you forgive yourself for putting trust in someone who has proven they are unworthy?
How does one continue on once they have been this intensely broken?
To the person that prompted this post, I forgive you for failing.
You painted a picture that we were more than friends, so close in fact we were like family, you fooled me and I let you. You first showed me who you truly were a couple months ago, it is my fault for not listening. I will carry the guilt of allowing you back in when I shouldn’t have for quite some time; at least that is a mistake I shall not make again.
